Portrait: My special nephew

This is my very special nephew, M, enjoying the sun on Memorial Day.

He’s not only special because he’s smart, funny and adorable, he’s also special because he overcame great odds, being born 3 months early. M weighed 2 pounds, 2 oz when he was born. His entire body fit in my hands. He was intubated for 2 of the 3 months he lived in the NICU. He had more surgery than most adults I know, but came through it all. Seeing him progress and grow is nothing short of amazing. Your auntie loves you!
